“There is only one happiness in this life: To Love and Be Loved.”

Being a highly controversial subject with different people having different notions about love, there is one thing we can all agree on; that a mother’s love for her children is the single most powerful thing in this world and is the purest form of love. The saying that, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman” should be tweaked a bit and changed into, “Behind every successful person, there is a mother.”

It is a thankless job according to many people who are incapable of appreciating what it takes to be a mother. In today’s world where money is a yardstick for measuring almost anything and everything, a mother’s job isn’t the most glamorous or high paying one. This is what Manushi Chhillar reminded us of in the final round of the Miss World beauty pageant, a very basic fact that we all seem to have forgotten as we are blinded by materialism and greed.

Manushi Chhillar was born in the small town of Sonipat, Haryana on 14 May 1997. She belongs to an upper middle-class family, with her father being a scientist, while her mother being an associate professor of science. She was a student at St. Thomas’ School in New Delhi and later pursued a medical degree at the Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Sonipat. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer and has also attended the National School of Drama.
As we can see Ms. Chhillar is a powerhouse of talent, not only just good in academics but also in other activities. In a country where millions are still unfamiliar or not yet in terms with movements like “Girl Child Education”, Ms. Chhillar has certainly gone an extra mile excelling at multiple fields. She certainly is a daughter Mother India should be very proud of along with the rest of the country.

We all know about the heroic feats of our Shivaji Maharaj. But few of us know of Shivaji’s mother Jijabai who single-handedly raised Shivaji. Jijabai was a very pious and intelligent woman with a great vision for an independent kingdom. She inspired Shivaji by telling stories from Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Balaraja. Inspired by her, Shivaji took the Oath of Independence (SWARAJYA) in the fort temple of Lord Raireshwar in 1645 when he was 15. In Shivaji’s impeccable, spotless character and courage, Jijabai’s contribution is enormous.

Mothers are the unsung heroes since times immemorial. We remember our heroes but we forget those who made those heroes and guided them to greatness. This is what Manushi Chhillar voiced on in the final round of the 2017 Miss World beauty pageant that a mother’s contribution to our lives is priceless. Without whom, we’ll be lost and life won’t be as beautiful and memorable as it is.

Ms. Chhillar has been an enigma and has proved that she’s the most worthy recipient of this prestigious award. Even after achieving so much she didn’t forget her roots and acknowledged her mother’s contribution in front of the whole world while remaining true to her motto : “The sky’s the limit. We are limitless and so are our dreams, we must never doubt ourselves.”
